Data loss and backups – E-Rechnung Deutschland

1. Scope

This policy describes how aoex limits the loss of merchant and invoice data for the Shopify app E-Rechnung Deutschland, and which copies are kept. Contact: contact@aoex.be.

2. Where the app runs

The App and its PostgreSQL database run on Fly.io in the Frankfurt region (fra).

3. Database

Once a day aoex writes an encrypted pg_dump of the PostgreSQL database. Those backups are kept for 35 days in a separate Tigris bucket, apart from the invoice files.

4. Invoices

Issued invoices (PDF and XML) are stored write-once in Tigris, and snapshots are kept of those files. During the legal retention period of 10 years, issued invoices cannot be changed or deleted; details are in the privacy policy.

5. Limits

Backups exist so data can be restored after loss or corruption. They are not a way to delete an issued invoice before the legal retention period ends. Drafts follow the deletion rules in the privacy policy.

6. Restore

The database is restored from a daily encrypted dump while that dump is still inside the 35 days. Invoice files are restored from Tigris storage and its snapshots. aoex tests restoration. Merchants can request issued invoices at contact@aoex.be.
